💡Did you know?During the 2006 Asian Games opening ceremony, Aspire Tower was lit with a real Olympic-style flame visible from across Doha.

Known as the Torch Doha, Aspire Tower stands 300 meters tall at the heart of the Aspire Zone sports complex. Built for the 2006 Asian Games, it houses a five-star hotel and a revolving restaurant at its summit, remaining one of the tallest and most recognizable structures in Qatar.

History

Historical Significance

Built between 2005 and 2006 for the 15th Asian Games, Aspire Tower was central to Qatar's vision of becoming a global sports destination — a vision that culminated with the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Construction Milestones

Building Aspire Tower

2003
Qatar is awarded the 15th Asian Games and immediately begins planning Aspire Zone — a world-class sports complex anchored by a landmark tower.
2005
Construction of the 300-meter torch-shaped tower begins, with a compressed two-year schedule to meet the Asian Games deadline.
2006
Aspire Tower is completed and lit with a real flame for the opening ceremony, the blaze visible from across Doha.
Present
The tower houses the five-star Torch Doha hotel and a revolving restaurant, remaining one of Qatar's most iconic structures.
